Roof Inspection: Hail Damage & Ventilation Issues in Denver | Cenco Roofing

Good morning from Cenco Roofing! Our team conducted a detailed roof inspection for a valued client, Brian Pauls, to assess the condition of his asphalt shingle roof and overall roofing system.

During our inspection, we identified significant hail impact marks on both the 25-year three-tab shingles and the 30-year dimensional shingles. These impacts have ruptured the matting, creating potential entry points for water that could lead to leaks and structural damage over time. We observed numerous impact marks within our sample squares, indicating widespread damage that warrants attention.

Crucially, our assessment also revealed a lack of proper intake ventilation on the rear portion of the roof. While there is a ridge vent for exhaust, insufficient intake means hot air gets trapped under the roof, effectively ‘baking’ the shingles. We measured surface temperatures of 118-119 degrees Fahrenheit at just 10 AM, highlighting the excessive heat buildup that prematurely ages the roofing materials.

In our professional opinion, addressing the ventilation issue and replacing this roof is essential to prevent future leaks and costly structural damage. This project is a prime candidate for coverage under a home insurance policy due to the extensive hail damage. Our team at Cenco Roofing is dedicated to providing thorough and honest roof inspections for homeowners across Denver and the surrounding areas.
